My Fashion Paper Inspiration

For my fashion show final paper I have decided to watch and write about Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 and 2014 shows. Because of this I decided that it would be helpful to get some background information on the designer and how his creative genius not only inspires his Marc Jacobs collections, but also how he translates his deign style to function for Louis Vuitton as well.
I decided to watch a documentary appropriately entitled, Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton, this film took the viewer backstage, where very few people are allowed to enter, to the world of Marc Jacobs for the creation of his Marc Jacobs Spring 2007 collection and Louis Vuitton Spring 2007 collection. The film enlightens the viewer to Jacobs’s decision-making, styling, and design process. Marc Jacobs I learned is more than just a lover of fashion design, he is passionate about music, art, and takes influence from his human encounters in day-to-day life. I believe the combination of all of these things is what makes his attention for detail and design aesthetic so unique and his garments into much more than just a simple collection.

Every item of clothing, accessories, and shoes Marc Jacobs creates is inspirational and the time and effort put into each item is astonishing. If something is not perfectly finished or styled correctly it won’t get passed through to the show and often items are produced in a variety of colors, approximately seven, just so Jacobs can pick the color he likes the most. His passion and personal identity has lead him to be called the, “American genius in fashion” – André Leon Talley and is a favorite of the queen of American fashion Anna Wintour. Jacobs is more than just a designer he is a creator of a world very few can envision until it is placed in front of them.
