Extra Tips

While working in a corporate office there are many things that I have learned. It can be tiring working from 9-5 every day and you can sometimes begin to get lazy. I have learned some tips along the way that I wish I would have known when I started interning.
  • Start your morning off with water – not coffee. I know this can be hard for many of us. It is said that if you drink a cup of cold water first thing in the morning it has the same effect as drinking coffee.
  • Bring a snack for the mid-morning or midafternoon. Bringing a snack gets your mind off of hunger. It will hold you over until lunch or until dinner helping you to get all of your work done. It also will keep you focused and ready to work.
  • If you do not have a water dispenser in your office make sure you are bringing enough water to last you throughout the day.
  • Get enough sleep at night! Getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night is very crucial. During classes many of us get accustomed to staying up late to complete projects or hang out with friends. While working, it is very important that you get enough sleep. You have to be in the office from 9am until 5pm. You are not able to take a nap midday like you do in-between classes, so to be able to be on top of your work it is important that you are well rested and ready for the day.
  • Make sure to keep Advil or a basic pain reliever in your bag. When you have a headache or are feeling under the weather it is good to be able to have Advil or something equivalent to make you feel better and get back to work!
  • If you wear heels or uncomfortable shoes to work, you should not wear them to commute. Wear flat shoes for the commute to work and bring your cute shoes for work in your bag. Once you get to work change your shoes to heels or wedges. This will make your commute quicker and also keep your shoes nice longer becuase you won’t be walking so much in them!
