ABC’s First Black Bachelorette

ABC’s The Bachelor franchise makes history after announcing the first black woman to be the next “Bachelorette” for season 13.The first official announcement was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! after one of the episodes of The Bachelor. Not only was this moment historic, but the announcement was a bit premature.

Most people may know Rachel Lindsay as a current contestant on The Bachelor with Nick Viall. She received the first impression rose on episode one and is a 31 year old attorney from Dallas, Texas. Rachel is still a contestant on the show, which had some people surprised about the early announcement. So after hearing about the historic news, viewers now know that she will not be given a rose in the next episode. Nevertheless the fans, as well as Viall, loved her from the beginning of the season and is just trying to find love like all of the other contestants.
